I have a new iMac with Maverick 10.9.5, and downloaded Libre Office 4.3.1.2

I want to download spreadsheets from a government website, and always open in Libre Office.

I don't want to download in Numbers, export to excel, and export again to Libre Office.

Where is a setting to 'always use Libre Office'?

If I single-click the downloaded spreadsheet, then right-click, 'open with' and hit Libre Office, then it appears as a spreadsheet, but crashes when I try to sort the columns.
